Microwave moisture measurement in
pressed boards
Tews Elektronik has produced a range microwave moisture measuring systems for use in all stages of the production of pressed board products such as MDF.
Maintaining accurate moisture levels is of prime importance at all stages in the production of pressed board products Whether it be in the fibre bins or the pressing lines, incorrect moistures can adversely affect the quality and throughput of the process

Tews Elektronik, leaders in the manufacture of microwave moisture measuring systems, produce a range of products for use in either the process line or the laboratory.
In MDF board production they have had considerable success, installing a variety of sensors throughout the production and quality control departments.
For the continuous measurement of glued and dried fibres, the MW 3260 Planar Sensor can be mounted in the side of fibre silos and also in the wall of chutes where it is inclined to allow the fibres to flow over it.
In the process line, the formed but unpressed fibres can be measured by placing the MW3260 on a sliding carriage which sits on the product carpet on the conveyor belt.
The sensor's contact pressure can be adjusted by counter weights.
Sensors can also be placed between the carrier rollers to measure the moisture content of compressed, cut boards both before and after the star cooler.
Once the boards have been produced, Quality Control departments can also benefit from the accuracy, and non-destructive measurement technique of Tews systems.
An MW3150 laboratory instrument coupled to a planar sensor installed in a table bed enables a fast and efficient method of verifying the moisture content of the finished product.
