Four patents granted for fixed headstock DECO
Following the phenomenal success of the DECO concept on sliding head and multispindle products, Tornos engineers wanted to develop a DECO incorporating fixed headstock technology.
Lathe combines best of CNC and cams
Tornos has unveiled its new automatic lathe, the DECO 42 f. For the first time, the DECO 2000 concept has been applied to the world of the fixed headstock.
The company has processed only 50% of the leads obtained at the show and it has already sold three machines.
The two 10 axis single spindle Deco 26A machines and a Deco 20A have been sold into the automotive and general subcontract market.
On stand 5229 Tornos exhibited four machines that proved the company's ability to manufacture a diverse range of components across all industries.

At the EMO in Hanover during September of this year, Tornos will unveil as a first throughout the world, its new multi-spindle lathe working on the DECO concept: - the MULTIDECO 32/6 i.
Advanced CNC automatic enhanced further
Since its first appearance at the EMO, Hannover, last year, the Tornos 20a has been further improved aesthetically and the counter spindle increased in diameter.
Modular set-up autos expand subby's business
Needing to increase its flexibility, remain competitive and widen its market opportunities a subcontractor purchased three sliding head turning centres that could be updated as business grew.
John Stretton, general manager said: "We've had a great exhibition with a huge amount of interest from visitors.
The diversity of the products being machined on the stand is opening people's eyes to the capabilities of the Deco range." To show the capabilities of the Deco range to provide a 'complete package', Tornos produced components applicable to three prominent sectors within UK manufacturing.
Automotive - the endless possibilities for the automotive industry were shown on the Deco 26A single spindle and the MultiDeco 20/6 multispindle turning centres.
The 26A single spindle automatic with sliding headstock and parallel NC demonstrated the capabilities of the new generation DECO 2000.
The 26A exhibited its flexibility, power and swarf control by producing automotive parts from EN19 steel.
The component underwent 15 operations, which included turning, M12 thread whirling, milling and drilling within 48 seconds.
The innovative MultiDeco 20/6 multispindle automatic lathe with parallel numeric control received its UK exhibition debut at MACH 2004.
The MultiDeco 20/6 exceeds production rates of traditional multi spindles by making full use of sub spindles, live tooling and 'C' axes.
The machine produced automotive parts from 303 stainless steel at a rate of 9.1 seconds per part.
The part involved off centre and cross drilling operations, threading, reaming and external thread chasing.
Producing parts at four to five times the productivity rate of a single or twin spindle machine, making sure this UK debutant was very well received at MACH.
Electronics - to further demonstrate the versatility and capability of Tornos machines, the Deco 10A single spindle automatic with sliding headstock and parallel NC produced electronic components at MACH.
The Deco 10A has a host of options enabling a tailor made solution to be provided for any application.
The Deco 10A embraces CAM and Numerical control to ensure it is capable of working across a plethora of industries.
The 10A machined connector components for the electronic market that are used in military and transport industries.
The parts required slotting and bending through 90 degrees.
In 33 seconds the connector was intricately slotted and rolled with the bending process conducted on a bending wheel with use of a sub spindle.
Medical - the medical industry is undoubtedly a growth sector that the highly productive Tornos machine tools excel within.
To demonstrate the company's ability to provide solutions for all applications within this arena, Tornos exhibited the flexible Deco 13A single spindle automatic machine with sliding headstock and parallel NC on its stand.
At MACH, the 13A was cutting intricate components for the dental industry.
The component consisted of eccentric milling operations on stainless steel demonstrating the exceptional capabilities of the 13A.
