Tornos CNC turning sales rose by 4.5%
during 2005
During the financial year 2005, the Swiss Tornos Group achieved consolidated sales totalling CHF 222.6 million, a 4.5% increase compared with the previous year,but orders were down 5.5%.

Following the phenomenal success of the DECO concept on sliding head and multispindle products, Tornos engineers wanted to develop a DECO incorporating fixed headstock technology.
A marked downturn in the market was felt in the autumn, which was partly compensated for by the impact of new products exhibited at the EMO in September.
This change in trend was confirmed by the fourth quarter.
Finally, the orders received for the year amounted to CHF 212.5 million, i e, a 5.5% drop compared with 2004, which was marked by 31.9% growth.
The year was also marked by extreme contrasts in geographical terms.
Whilst Europe is stable as a whole, North America is declining and Asia is growing by a factor of 2.4 compared with 2004, crossing the 10% line of total group activities.
