A comprehensive X-Ray analytical system that combines the X-Ray Fluorescence and X-Ray Diffraction in one instrument suits chemical analysis in metals industries.

Thermo Electron Corporation introduces the ARL 9900, a new comprehensive X-Ray analytical system that combines the X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) technologies in just one instrument.

The new ARL 9900 has been developed to meet the increasing demand for high precision and reliability of chemical analysis in the metals industry, satisfy the process related analytical requirements in the cement industry and offer state of the art solutions for quality control in the copper and mining industries.

Combining XRF with Thermo's unique patented XRD system permits quantitative phase analysis of related compounds or minerals, in addition to the rapid and precise analysis of up to 83 elements from ppm levels to 100% in various solid samples.

Indeed, with this integrated XRF-XRD technology, a solid sample is analyzed with one analytical program and a comprehensive report of both chemical and phase analysis is generated for process and quality control in industrial applications.

The ARL 9900 can be equipped with the innovative SmartGonio goniometer for simple cost-effective configurations or the universal goniometer for more advanced flexible analysis, while the monochromators ensure rapid and simultaneous analysis.

Further savings can be made when using the ARL SMS-3000 robotic sample preparation and introduction system, which provides ARL 9900 users with fast and reliable automation.

In addition, the ARL 9900 can also be integrated with a simple OEM-XY autosampler or SMS-XY system for dedicated process control.

The ARL 9900 is also available in an Oasis version based on 1200W X-ray power and with no necessity for external water-cooling.

This is the only system of its kind where both XRF and XRD techniques can be operated without external water coolers.

This version is most suitable for the cement industry.
