Versatile X-ray spectrometer for the iron, steel and metallurgical industries to analyse slags, is claimed to be the first low power instrument to offer excellent performance on fluorine.
Metals analyser improves elemental analysis
High performance optical emission spectrometer allows steel producers to make more accurate and precise measurements and guarantee the quality of their alloys.
Featuring fully automated sample preparation and analysis, this cost effective system responds to the needs of users for fast and precise analysis in metals, mining, minerals and cement applications.
* No user intervention - Thermo Fisher told manufacturingtalk.com that this easy-to-use system improves the quality of metals analysis results with the inclusion of automatic sample preparation and handling.
Analysis and distribution of results is also automated without user intervention.
The system uses a sample handling arm equipped with a suction device or a gripper to load the samples for analysis, which are processed under strict identical and reproducible conditions.
A fixed circular magazine provides storage of reference standards and for the occasional manual introduction of prepared samples.
Standard and proven interfaces ensure easy system integration into a specific laboratory quality control environment.
Ensuring that the spectrometer permanently delivers quality results is essential to prevent scrap or waste and the need for production rework.
Control samples are regularly analysed and processed by statistical evaluation techniques (SPC) to detect eventual anomalies.
Automatic standardization is triggered by the system when necessary.
The integrated Thermo Scientific SMS-Omega audit trail function ensures increased traceability of the production control, facilitating the implementation of a laboratory quality system in compliance with ISO standards.
The complete system can be supplied within a Thermo Scientific ARL QuantoShelter container for in-situ analysis closer to the process.
Thermo Fisher said that the automated ARL OPTIM'X with SMS-Omega demonstrates its commitment to offering automated solutions including simple, autonomous and dedicated production control lines as well as higher performing and more sophisticated systems.
