Thermo Fisher Scientific has extended the capability of its ARL 4460 optical emission spectrometry (OES) metals analyzer with updated analytical software, OXSAS.

Developed for primary metals producers, the Thermo Scientific ARL 4460 allows users, from routine use to metals research, to maximize productivity and produce metallurgical products of the highest quality.

The device featuring time resolved spectroscopy (TRS) and the unique patented current controlled source (CCS) technique.

The ARL 4460 also features the on-line Spark-DAT option, which fully integrates into OXSAS.

This enables cleanness statements and inclusion determinations to be performed in seconds during metals production, compared with traditional techniques which can take hours.

* Automation - the ARL 4460 can be coupled to the Thermo Scientific ARL SMS-2000 automation system for fully automated sample preparation, sample handling and analysis.
