Today's automobile is already a vast network of interconnected silicon chips, controlling everything from airbags to engines operations. Alfautomazione has systems to test them.
The DSP-powered Digital Audio Toolbox has 4 main sets of I/O connectors: Digital Input 1, Digital Input 2, Digital Output, and Analog Output, as well as word clock in and out and a serial port.
Supported digital formats include AES/EBU, s/pdif, toslink, and ADAT, at bit depths of 24 bits and sample rates to 96kHz.
These give the Digital Audio Toolbox the ability to check lock between two digital streams, and to provide an analog output for monitoring, or as a test signal.
It is also designed to interface with other digital audio test equipment, and includes the first digital audio cable tester that can determine the injected interface jitter for a particular cable.
The various test functions include: Digital Tests: Transparency Test-to see if the digital data stream is being modified, Lock Test-to check lock between 2 digital signals, Latency Test-to see how long a device delays the digital audio data stream, Jitter Meter and Jitter FFT-to check interface jitter, and Cable Quality-to give the user a way to compare and test digital audio cables.
Analysis: Bitstream Analyzer-shows details of the digital audio signal, Bitscope-to see the bit activity, Digital Watchdog-to look for errors, and the Clock and Sample Counter-which shows the exact running rate of a clock or sample stream.
Tools: Digital Generator-creates a number of standard digital audio test signals, Level Meter shows digital levels, Sample Rate Converter works from 44.1k to 96k, Pass Mode-to clear or set bits in the digital header.
Utilities: Diigital Monitor lets you hear a digital signal in headphones, Dialog Level computes the Laeq for 5.1 authoring, Sony 9-pin Tester can monitor and create machine control signals, Transmit Data for sending data to a computer, and Setup and Calibration for customizing the Toolbox.
The Digital Audio Toolbox retails for $2490, which includes a foam-lined hard-shell carrying case and computer interface cables.
