Powered platform enables 22000 eggs to be loaded
A mobile powered platform from Transdek UK is enabling a single operative with a powered pallet truck to load over 22,000 eggs on to delivery vehicles in just 30 minutes.
They can be installed in a day without civil engineering work and are fully self-contained, with traffic lights and weather-protection included as standard.
They can also be incorporated in new buildings in place of conventional loading bays.
A powered hydraulic second deck reduces a trailer's payload by around five tonnes and also costs some GBP 35,000 more than a version with two fixed decks, says Transdek.
In addition, trailers with fixed decks typically have about 25% more internal space than equivalent versions with powered decks.
The platforms are available in 2.25 tonne, 4.5 tonne and nine tonne models, suitable for carrying six, 12 or 18 standard supermarket roll cages at a time.
They can work with any type of double-deck trailer, including Continental types with low floors, and also with conventional trailers.
The hydraulic platform can be lowered to 150mm above the ground and lifted to 2.5m.
The equipment consists of a steel framework with a heavy-duty loading platform manufactured from anti-slip floor-plate and mounted on hydraulic rams.
A large hydraulic bridging plate is included to give safe full-width access between platform and trailer.
Dock seals and heavy duty buffers are also available.
