Transdev's now available in antistatic
versions
A new antistatic belt version that complies with ISO 9563 is now available on Breco T5, T10, AT5 and AT10 polyurethane timing belts.
Available exclusively in the UK through Transmission Developments Limited, the new belts are available in a wide range of open and joined lengths for applications where static build-up cannot be tolerated such as packaging and processing in potentially explosive atmospheres or in electrical component production and assembly machines The new belt has a layer of non-stick and wear-resistant antistatic material on both inner and outer belt surfaces and retains all of the advantages of Breco polyurethane timing belt technology with its bifilar S and Z wound multiple steel tension members providing superior belt tracking with longer life, reduced pulley edge wear and reduced noise characteristics

This unique winding method also allows the polyurethane to fully penetrate the tension members and is a major contributor to the superior bonding of the belt ends in the joining process.
Continuous tests for ISO 9563 certification confirmed that the Breco belts performed well within the required levels for electrical conductivity for safe use in hazardous and restricted environments.
They can be used in applications involving minimising radio frequency interference (RFI), sensitive electronic equipment, risk of ignition or explosion of flammable materials or risk of electric shock.
Transdev also supply anti-static coatings for other timing and power transmission belting conforming to BS2050 (1978) and DIN22104 and also supply belt surface conductivity testing equipment for planned maintenance on belt systems.
