Besides being entirely natural, the biodegradable sandwich wedges are functional and totally safe for all types of food.
The Spring Green range includes:- Tectaboard ? Spring Green cardboard option · Sandwich wedges incorporating new self seal sandwich wedge which gives two days shelf life with no requirement for machinery · Salad, tortilla and baguette containers with PLA window · Tectabagel pack with PLA window PLA ? Green PVC option · Hinged sandwich wedges · A range of ten salad containers in various different design formats · Tortilla packs There will also be a range of environmentally friendly cups and tumblers suitable for hot and cold beverages.
Kevin Curran, Managing Director of Tri-Star Packaging concludes: "Sustainability is one of the most important environmental issues.
With oil derived products such as PVC and APET we drain the world of its oil resources, never to be replenished." "In contrast, PLA is made from maize, a farm crop of which the US alone produces some 282.3 million tonnes a year, according to the International Grains Council.
"With PLA we have a natural source that is renewable annually," he said.
"That could create employment, assist farmers in utilising land and enable supply to be increased without destroying our planet.".
