The organisers of IMHX 2004 have announced plans for a national fork-lift truck driver competition, to be held over the three days of the exhibition The contest aims to attract the UK's most proficient truck drivers and will promote the importance of the role of the driver when it comes to overall efficiency and safety in operations

The competition will take place within the exhibition halls and is expected to be a centrepiece of interest on each day of the show.

A specially designed course will assess drivers' skills, based on a combination of speed, accuracy and safe driving practice.

Commenting on the initiative, Exhibition Director Richard Hease said "We are planning for IMHX 2004 to set new standards when it comes to overall content and value for both exhibitors and visitors.

We believe that this is a very exciting new concept for the event that puts direct focus on the importance of truck drivers.

Many of our major exhibitors have identified how drivers play a vital role in operating efficiency and cost." Other new initiatives for IMHX 2004 include a recently announced Knowledge Zone, which includes three theatres with continuous presentation programmes covering current hot topics, case studies and new products and services.

Companies interested in participating in the IMHX Truck Driver Competition should contact the IMHX press office or log onto www.IMHX2004.co.uk.
