Modular platform reduces manual handling

Yardlift option saved buying an extra forklift
When a warehouse had to put in an extra loading dock it had to consider the costs of buying another fork lift truck, but a mobile yardlift offered better safety, flexibility and cost-effectiveness.
Previously, tables, chairs, glassware and other catering supplies had to be brought out of the warehouse by hand and placed on the yard floor so that fork lifts could load the company's low floor delivery vehicles.
The two-part platform consists of a 5m long by 2.3m wide ramp with an additional 2m long counterbalanced dock leveller that allows fork lift trucks to easily load low floor vehicles ranging from 7.5 to 17.5 tonnes in size.
Its introduction has made the loading operation much more efficient.
A spokesman for Johnson Hospitality said that it was now far quicker, there were less manual handling issues and vehicle space was being better utilised.
Modular loading docks from Thorworld Industries are ruggedly built, highly versatile and can be designed to suit individual locations and requirements.
They are available in heights ranging from 800 to 1600mm, with a maximum load of eight tons.
Their semi-permanent nature allows for quick and simple relocation or change of layout and a wide range of accessories are available.
