Temperatures monitored remotely through Ethernet
A flexible, low cost solution for remote temperature monitoring via Ethernet (LAN or Internet) allows temperatures to be read via HTML or XML web pages, or through an SNMP client.
In this way, for example, inputs on one IO Controller can control outputs on another.
The Ethernet IO Controller can act both as a TCP server but also like a TCP client.
In the client mode, when an input changes, the controller can connect to a remote server via TCP/IP and send a 7-byte message about the change.
Whilst the list of potential uses is endless, the following is a sample of applications where Ethernet IO Controllers are currently employed:.
- An automatic communication system with machine operators, used to avoid unnecessary downtime.
- Remote temperature control and status reporting.
- Network device remote resetting.
- Alarm status reporting.
- A parking control system with alternative parking display messaging.
