Test/certification firm opens another
USA facility
An independent provider of product testing and certification services, TUVRheinland, has opened a testing facility in Rocheter, NY and has signed a deal with Eastman Kodak.
TUVRheinland, the world leader in independent testing and certification services, has established a Rochester, New York, USA, office and testing facility at Building 5 of Rochester Technology Park With the opening, TUVRheinland announced it has also signed an agreement with Eastman Kodak Company to become its primary supplier of third-party testing and certification services

EMC directive becomes active
On 31st of December 2004, the new EMC directive 2004/108/EC was published in the Official Journal of the European Union, replacing the EMC Directive 89/336/EEC.
TUVRheinland will provide third-party services to Kodak and other clients in a facility equipped with the latest product safety and EMC test equipment.
The company will test and certify products in the medical, information technology, audio/video, laboratory, industrial machinery and telecommunications industries.
This testing assures the products' compliance with a variety of global EMC, safety and telecommunications requirements.
"We are excited by this new business venture and anticipate tremendous growth at our new Rochester location," said Rick Patterson, TUVRheinland's Northeast regional manager.
"We look forward to further enriching our relationship with Kodak and helping its business units, and other manufacturers, gain global market access for their products." TUVRheinland has identified a growing need for additional testing locations in the northeast region.
From the Rochester office, the company plans to serve other product manufacturers in Western and Northern New York, the Ohio Valley and Western Pennsylvania.
TUVRheinland's North American division operates 17 offices, including multiple EMC testing laboratories and mobile lab units throughout the United States.
