Visitor numbers jump for sensors show
Mtec Sensors, Measurement and Instrumentation, featuring Industrial Networks for Fieldbus and Open Systems, has seen an increase in visitor numbers of 11%.

Flash database gives automation training
AutomationXpert is believed to be the only English language, interactive Flash database for professional training in the automation, pneumatics, hydraulics and electrical-engineering.

Lemo UK Limited presented their recently developed range of electro- optic converters that provide a simple, rugged solution for upgrading an existing copper system to fibre optic.
Their converters are designed to plug directly into existing Lemo copper based connectors and provide a bi-directional fibre optic link through an inline Lemo connector.
Fluxgate World launched their rotary shaft encoder, which is the first in an innovative range of industrial sensors and transducers based on fluxgate magnetometry.
Iotech Europe featured their DaqBook/2000 Series of Ethernet based systems, their ZonicBook 618E for vibration analysis and monitoring and the DBK100 in-vehicle thermocouple measurement pods.
Hirchmann Electronics introduced their new Gigabit Power Mice, which is designed specially for use in rough industrial environments and particularly well suited to deployment in high-availability production networks involving large volumes of data or subject to real-time demands Raytek introduced its new MIH non-contact infrared temperature sensors, which have a measurement, range of minus 40ºC to 600ºC and can be installed in environments with ambient temperatures up to 180ºC without the need for costly water or air-cooling accessories.
They also exhibited their much-publicised Raytek Thermoview Ti30 Thermal imager, which has recently been added to the Fluke Corporation?s product line as the Fluke Ti30 Thermal Imager.
Tecan displayed their environmentally friendly process for the anodising of titanium parts, which is believed to be unique to the UK.
This method meets the established ISO 8088 standard without the use of acids and the company has also developed equally ?green? techniques for plating titanium.
The main focus of the Airflow Developments stand was on its newly introduced ComiAIR, which is a portable multi purpose air measurement system.
The instrument uses a lightweight, hand held based meter which builds into a complete air measuring solution for air velocity, air flow, temperature, humidity and differential air pressure.
Analogue and Digital Services exhibited a range of products from both Tekscan Inc and X-Rite These included the Tekscan I-Scan Pressure Mapping Systems and the latest hand held spectrophotometers from X-Rite.
Sensors Technology used their stand to show their new Torqsense transducers, the world?s first low cost non contact rotary torque transducers.
Both Mtec and Industrial Networks enjoyed the support of numerous industry associations and societies; the Profibus Group, the Asi Expert Alliance, the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society (ISA), the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the British Society of Strain Measurement (BSSM) who held well attended seminars and workshops over the two days.
The Mtec and Industrial Networks exhibitions were again co-located with 5 other focussed manufacturing events including Machine Building and Automation incorporating PneuMotion - air at work, IPOT image processing and optical technology, Machine Vision, EID electronic information displays, and Practical Vacuum incorporating Semiconductor Processing to provide the visitor with an unrivalled access to the latest technology across a variety of disciplines and all under one roof! "One of the best shows I have done in a long time!" was the comment from Martin Pearce, Marketing Director at Willow Technologies, and re- bookings for the 2006 shows, which will take place on 15th and 16th February, are already well under way.
Prior to the next Mtec show will be the launch of Instrumentation South an addition to the successful range of regional sensors, measurement, instrumentation and data acquisition events held across the UK.
Instrumentation South will be held on the 5th and 6th October 2005 at the Royal Berkshire Conference Centre, Madejski Stadium, Reading.
