Heat-shrinkable tubing performance
enhanced

A revised material formula enhances the performance characteristics of a highly flame retardant heat-shrinkable tubing.

Tyco Electronics has introduced a revised material formula to enhance the performance characteristics of its highly flame retardant Versafit heat-shrinkable tubing In a global initiative, to upgrade this product line to remain fully compliant with stringent new industry standards, the improved formula has been developed to deliver superior fluid and heat ageing resistance

Versafit is highly flame retardant heat-shrinkable tubing, which offers an effective solution for the insulation and protection of wire bundles and components in aggressive or hot operating environments.

It is ideal for use in a wide variety of commercial, industrial and military equipment and electronics equipment, across a range of markets including; automotive, aerospace, and defence.

Versafit products meet demanding specifications including; MIL SPEC-SAE-AMS-DTL-23053/5 Class 1 and 3 and UL 224 VW-1 (the new UL standard for heat aging and heat shock, which came into effect in December 2001).

These products address the environmental issues surrounding end-life disposal - being free from polybrominated bi-phenyls and polybrominated biphenyl oxides and ethers.

With immediate effect, Versafit and the Versafit 3x, V2 and V4 products worldwide will be produced in the revised material formulation, whilst retaining the original product codes for a seamless transition.

In announcing the development Richard Kewell, Tyco Electronics' product manager for Versafit commented: "In developing this high spec formula we are providing our customers with compliance to new standards from an existing and well proven product line".
