With over 60,000 employees and a turnover exceeding EUR 7 billion, the European manufacturing industry of cutting tools for industrial use plays a leadership role in the world panorama of the sector.
This is confirmed by the data concerning export: more than the half of the world exports of the sector comes from Europe.
Tools are used in all main industrial sectors and destined to the application in the machining processes, in the automotive, aerospace, railway fields, and more generally, in instrumental mechanics.
ECTA's president, Fabrizio Resmini, has affirmed: "The involvement of the sector in all manufacturing processes makes it necessary to study the new trends and the evolution of the end-users' requirements.
As a matter of fact, the aim of the Association and, in particular, of the Annual Conference is the analysis of these topics, which will be discussed during the scheduled workshops, accompanied by convivial moments of confrontation among the participants." The working sessions will be opened with the meeting 'Macroeconomic scenario: present situation and future perspective' by Giorgio Arfaras, Credit Suisse director.
The meeting 'How to compete between price and value' by Renato Fiocca, Professor of marketing, Catholic University of Milan, will be dedicated to the aspect of strategic marketing.
The working session will be concluded with the meeting entitled 'Future of cutting tools in the automotive and aerospace sectors' held by Sergio Durante, manager of Manufacturing and Machining Technologies, president of the Advanced Machining Club Centro Ricerche Fiat.
The event which, traditionally, can count on the presence of the US Association of the sector (USCTI), is reserved to the participation of the enterprises that are members of the seven category associations linked up by ECTA, such as AFEC (Spain), FVM (Sweden), Symop (France), Swissmem (Switzerland), The British Hardmetal and Engineers' Cutting Tool Association (Great Britain), VDMA (Germany), UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre (Italy) and of the aggregated companies Hanita (Israel) and Jabro Tools (Holland).
