In the four exhibition days, Bi-Mu Mediterranea machine tool exhibition registered over 9,000 visits and the number of visitors had increased by 7.5% compared with the previous show.

Sunday 26 February, 2006, was the closing day of the fifth edition of Bi-Mu Mediterranea, the biennial show dedicated to the machine tool, robot and automation sector, which has recently acquired the prestigious qualification of 'International Exhibition' In the four exhibition days, Bi-Mu Mediterranea registered over 9,000 visits

The number of operators who visited the show, has increased by 7.5% compared with the previous edition, attesting the vivacity and the potentiality of a market having its natural centre in Bari and covering the Mid-Southern Italian regions, the Balkan countries, South-Eastern Europe and Northern Africa.

The interest of the above countries for the event and for the sector of production systems has been confirmed by the massive attendance of operators taking part in the conferences organised within the show.

In fact, the scheduled meetings saw the participation of about 300 people.

"The success achieved by the conferences," commented Alberto Tacchella, president of UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre, "Is a testimony to the attention of the public for the analysis and deepening of topics connected with the technological development that is regarded with great interest by manufacturers and users, allowing and supporting, in this way, the constant industrial progress of the area of Bari." Not only the operators of the sector, but also the students of technical high schools (accompanied by their teachers) visited the show.

Their attendance resulted to be at the same level as in the edition of 2004.

Organised by Fiera del Levante in co-operation with CEU-Centro Esposizioni UCIMU and promoted by UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre, the Association of Italian machine tools, robots and automation Manufacturers, Bi-Mu Mediterranea reaffirms its role as one of the most important exhibitions of the sector for the Mediterranean countries, a qualified show of innovative solutions generally based on functional modularity, enabling the user-industry to be equipped with agile production structures, characterized by flexibility and capacity of reconfiguration.

On the scene was the offering of the 300 enterprises that proposed the best of their production, in the five exhibition pavilions, on a total net surface of 8,000m2.

"The numbers of this edition are extremely satisfactory," continued Tacchella, "Now, it is desirable that the contacts obtained in the four days of the show should be transformed into real business for the manufacturers." Aimed at promoting the meeting between demand and offer of the sector, Bi-Mu Mediterranea has been chosen by ICE (Italian Institute for Foreign Trade) to organise, in co-operation with Fiera del Levante and UCIMU-Sistemi per Produrre, more than 200 meetings between Italian exhibitors and some thirty trade operators from Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Morocco, Slovenia, Tunisia and Turkey.

"With Bi-Mu Mediterranea - stated Luigi Lobuono, president of Fiera del Levante - "We are able to offer a strong boost to the industrial development of our territory that cannot absolutely neglect factors, such as productive specialisation, technological innovation and automation." * The next Bi-Mu Mediterranea is scheduled for 2008.
