CAM kits support mill-turn centres

Machine tool support kits will allow fast implementation of NX CAM software - with 3D simultaion - for use with the latest Mori Seiki NT series mill-turn machine tools.

At EMO, UGS was present on the Mori Seiki booth to demonstrate the new NX post processor and the 3D machine tool simulation models alongside the new NT mill-turn centre UGS has many customers using Mori Seiki machine tools and its comprehensive NX software offers the necessary capabilities for programming mill-turn machines

When new machines are offered to the market, such as the NT series from Mori Sieki, its important for the major CAM software vendors to be able to offer at least post processors to suit the new machines.

For the Mori NT series, in addition to the tested post processor for NX Machining, there is a NX 3D solids simulation model, an NX software simulation driver that runs from the g-code post output, and supporting CAM set-up data for NX, all available as elements of a complete NX machine tool support kit.

The availability of these tested post processors and complete machine tool support kits will be a key element in enabling joint Mori Seiki and UGS customers to be able to program their new machines as soon as they are implemented, and to be able to take advantage of the advanced CAM capabilities of NX.

NX Machining provides full simultaneous multi-axis milling, channel synchronisation and internal post processing and simulation technology - all important capabilities for effective programming of advanced multi-function machines.

NX Machining is available in complete packages that include wide ranging CAM functions, 3D machining simulation, post processor build and edit application, and a full set of 2D and 3D CAD functions, all in NX.

The NX CAM software is one of the few systems to offer its own internal machining simulation and its own internal post processing system.

NX is supplied for CAM use with the NX Post Builder.

This graphical tool allows users to edit the NX post processors.

* G-code driven simulation - unlike CAM systems that use 3rd party applications for machining simulation that are driven off of the basic tool path, NX provides a higher level of accuracy by utilising a g-code driver for 3D simulation that works from the NX internal post processor technology.

This level of machining simulation is a real advantage when aiming for effective, safe programming of advanced machine tools such as mill-turn machines.

The 3D simulation models are built taking full advantage of the fact that NX Machining can utilise the complete 3D solid modeling and assembly functions of NX, all within the same software.
