We are now able to create larger and even more varied designs.
In addition, we receive regular software updates - something not available with the previous UNIX-based system we were using." Crown UCP currently has six Solid Edge licences with plans to acquire more to complete the phasing out of its UNIX-based software by the end of 2004.
"The PC-based format of Solid Edge allows us to integrate it with many other applications, thereby enabling technical as well as non-CAD departments to access design information.
Showing designs or a sample to customers has ceased to be a time-consuming or complex process," added Harrower.
Designers working within the FMCG sectors (Fast Moving Consumer Goods) will find the shape creation tools beneficial as they are geared towards the fast creation of aesthetically pleasing consumer product designs where the form need not be limited by functionality.
