UGS Expands Relationship with Microsoft to Develop Comprehensive New Integration Between Teamcenter and Microsoft Business Solutions

UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that it has expanded its relationship with Microsoft, the worldwide leader in software, services and solutions This expansion will include the integration of Microsoft's business application management platform and UGS' Teamcenter product lifecycle management solutions to provide a single source for product and process data allowing easy access and reuse of data

Expansion of the current relationship is based on increasing customer demand for business solutions like enterprise resource planning (ERP) and PLM that work together to improve a customer's ability to transform its process of innovation to bring unique products to market at reduced cost and faster time to market.

Extending the reach of Teamcenter from enterprise to mid-market ERP systems allows companies of all sizes to effectively and efficiently implement PLM, expanding access to a broader range of customers.

The new solutions will unite data from engineering with corporate ERP processes to smooth the flow of projects from engineering through to manufacturing.

The integration of UGS' Teamcenter and Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains, a cross-industry financial management solution designed for the mid-market is possible due to the open standards approach of both Microsoft and UGS.

"This level of collaboration and innovation has been the norm of operation for large companies, but the increasing adoption of Microsoft Business Solutions has put the capabilities in reach to a much larger market segment," said Steve Bashada, vice president of Teamcenter applications, UGS.

"The open standards approach of both Microsoft and UGS has enabled the companies to aggressively bring this solution to market.

This will be the first solution to provide seamless interoperability between Microsoft Great Plains and Teamcenter, with a Microsoft Business Solutions - Axapta integration to follow." "UGS and Microsoft's commitment to integrated innovation has allowed UGS to continue to deliver PLM solutions that meet the demands of our joint customers," said Dave O'Hara, vice president of business development, Microsoft Business Solutions.

"The PLM domain expertise and industry knowledge of UGS, combined with Microsoft's business application management platform, allow us to deliver solutions that help customers realise a lower total cost of ownership while maximising their existing technology investments." "Together Microsoft and UGS offer superior capabilities to deliver unified solutions for the enterprise and mid-market.

The combination of Teamcenter with Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Axapta will provide leadership to manufacturing businesses for years to come," said Kerry Grimes, vice president, Mid Market and Global Channel Sales, UGS.

"This integration will create new business opportunities for partners of both companies.

This will enhance UGS' global partner network and it will offer Microsoft Great Plains and Microsoft Axapta implementation partners an opportunity to grow their business and be more competitive in selling their existing Microsoft business solutions.".
