Teamcentre Express Version 2 introduces "XpresReview Package Exchange," a tool that enables more efficient and higher quality design collaboration between workgroups, suppliers and customers.
XpresReview Package Exchange combines XpresReview technology with Packaged Collaboration File (PCF) technology.
XpresReview is the established NX and Solid Edge collaboration tool.
PCF is the portable, intelligent container that packages 2D and 3D CAD files and any other document types.
New handling routines added to Teamcentre Express that facilitate this simple but powerful design review capability, including importing, exporting, mailing and viewing of PCF files.
Suppliers and customers can download the XpresReview viewer for free to interrogate and mark up the PCF contents.
Then they can import modified PCF files back into Teamcentre Express for others to review and incorporate into the design.
UGS recently announced several new Teamcentre Express customers, including Siemens Gas Turbine Parts Limited (SGTP), a company in the Siemens Power Generation Group.
Today, many SMBs use non-specific databases or PDM applications that do not manage manufacturing data.
This results in the loss of data or even manufacturing from the wrong data.
Teamcentre Express Version 2 provides both design and manufacturing data management in the same system.
The system offers extensions for manufacturing process planning as well as tool, fixture and standard resource libraries, tailored for mid-size manufacturers.
Teamcentre Express Version 2 interfaces directly with NX CAM Express, announced in June.
The system automatically captures the data created in NX CAM Express sessions and maintains this under full revision control under a manufacturing process definition.
Then companies can easily go back to a job, find the right data and ensure that the correct information is sent to the machine shop.
In addition, Teamcentre Express Version 2 provides preconfigured Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) integration with leading programs, including SAP and Microsoft Dynamics GP, AX and NAV.
This expanded set of ERP integrations ensures accurate and high-quality data transfer to ERP.
The data transfer is automatically triggered by a workflow process and includes confirmation to the Teamcentre Express user of the status of the update transaction in the ERP system.
"These new capabilities significantly extend Teamcentre Express' delivery of preconfigured industry best-practice processes into areas such as supplier collaboration and manufacturing," said Bill McClure, vice-president, UGS Velocity Series Portfolio.

"Its extension into manufacturing data management and broader ERP integration in this release provide a world class cPDM tool for SMBs".
Teamcentre Express can be coupled with a wide variety of computer-aided design (CAD) applications including UGS' Solid Edge and NX as well as CATIA, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and SolidWorks.
The product will begin shipping later this month.
