Unicut Precision of Welwyn Garden City, UK, has won a two-year American export contract worth in excess of GBP 800,000 to supply some four million small turned parts.

The contract, based on consignment supply of some 70 different components, involves batch sizes between 10 and 40,000.

In addition to the main contract, the customer will be placing orders for bespoke components to meet specific needs.

Maintains joint managing director Jason Nicholson: "The two-day negotiations with the customer confirmed our capability to deliver to the quality level demanded within the time scales laid down resulting in the setting up of the consignment agreement.

The customer was particularly impressed with our track record with another US contract we have been fulfilling over the last four years and the flexibility of the machine tools we are using that enable us to group parts together and quickly reset to meet projected delivery dates.

Unicut Precision has nine Citizen and two Star CNC sliding head autos and one Miyano mill/turn centre.

All machines are under four years old and are grouped into three production units.

The first is for high volume requirements, the second for higher value complex parts requiring good setting skills and the third for average batch size components.
