Through developing geometries for some of the most demanding processes and materials, tooling is being offered to increase aerospace component pocket machining performance.

While Unimerco's tooling has wide application throughout the metalworking and engineering industries, there was a marked focus at MACH 2004 on both the automotive and aerospace industries New optimised, semi-standard aluminium ranges, for instance, make full use of Unimerco's expertise in developing geometries for some of the most demanding processes and materials

An initial range has been developed to increase performance in pocket machining within aerospace components.

Totally optimised cutting geometry is combined with improved chip flow for better swarf evacuation.

The new tools are developed as a semi-standard, and are then produced to meet specific customer requirements.

Once designs have been agreed, tools can be delivered at minimal lead times while maintaining high quality standards.

In addition, Unimerco will display further developments in automotive tooling.

These include specialised products for machining cylinder heads, and for spark plug tooling.

In addition, there will be displays of tooling sets designed for both transfer line production and flexible machining cells.

A number of tools, produced in conjunction with automotive companies, and using minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) will provide an important feature of Unimerco's display.

MQL is already becoming an important production factor in the US and parts of Europe.

The UK is already following this trend in keeping with increasing government insistence on improved environmental standards.

Unimerco already possesses a great deal of experience in the design and production of MQL tools.
