Because of the diverse nature of the potential customers this meant the site had to be both informative and technical, while remaining easy to use and fast loading.
In order to achieve this it was decided that the site needed to be structured in a way that provided people with the information they wanted quickly and easily.
For people who know what product they are looking for details of each standard unit can be reached within three clicks of the homepage.
An additional click enables PDF downloads of detailed unit specifications giving customers all the information required to make an informed business purchase.
For those who have limited knowledge of ultrasonic cleaning as a process the site contains pages on how the process works, why it is such an effective cleaning method and how it can be implemented in various different operating sectors.
Coupled with this is an ultrasonic terminology page which defines many of the key terms used in the industry while the FAQ and Hints and Tips section provides answers to common questions relating to ultrasonic cleaning in general.
Forthcoming additions to the site will include detailed research papers on ultrasonics, which have been produced by Ultrawaves in-house PhD student Jamie Lewis, additional PDF downloads and a contact system to keep customers up to date with any offers available from Ultrawave.
Once complete the website will be a one stop information source for all things relating to ultrasonic cleaning and it is hoped that it will become a point of reference for people operating within the industry as well as those who have recently been introduced to it.
The new site was redesigned by Cardiff based company Webdimension.
They have previously carried out website rebuilds for a number of armed forces regiments, government related projects and Stockholm airport.
Webdimension is owned and run by Rob Pitman.
Once all the content had been supplied the turn around time for the site was relatively small, around two weeks, which is impressive when you consider the site contains around twenty five pages in all.
Pitman had this to say about the redesign.
"When Ultrawave approached me about redesigning their website I was completely unaware of what ultrasonic cleaning was.
This presented me with the challenge of having to research the field in order to ensure that I got a feel for the marketplace they were looking to aim the site towards.
After carrying out this research I discovered the target market was huge, ranging from small units for home use to validated medical cleaners through to large scale industrial cleaning systems.
We decided to keep the site simple and avoid all the technical jargon, but also include additional sections with the in depth technical information on.
By doing this people who were just looking to buy an ultrasonic unit, but would not understand all the jargon could read the general pages, while those who were very specific in what they wanted to could go into these technical sections and match up the products to their requirements.
We decided to give the site a modern fresh look while making navigation easy with product information available for each unit in three clicks from the homepage".
"With so many websites now looking similar in design we wanted to try some new ideas in order to make the site both eye catching and memorable".
"I'm really pleased with the results that we achieved and I feel we've given the site a design that will stand the test of time well." Dave Avery, marketing manager at Ultrawave says: "Although our existing site gave a brief insight into the Ultrawave brand, we felt that due to the importance of the internet in modern business operations it needed updating in order to truly reflect the companies current position".
"Web Dimensions have carried out an excellent job with the site and we are really pleased with the results of all their hard work.
We hope that by doing this redesign we can increase the traffic to the site, and due to its user friendly nature, hope people will return to it and use it as a portal for keeping up to date with what is going on in the ultrasonic marketplace.
We will be regularly updating the site with all the latest news from Ultrawave along with monthly promotions on selected products.".
