Lubricant for abrasive belts with extreme pressure properties reduces friction between the belt and the workpiece and prevents the breakdown of the resin bonding the abrasive to the belt.

Cool-It functions as a lubricant for abrasive belts with extreme pressure properties The lubricant attaches to the surface of abrasive belts via adsorption and chemisorption, forming a monomolecular layer

This layer reduces the surface energy.

The greater the reduction in surface energy the greater is the stability of the absorbed film.

The actual protection against wear is believed to be due to the stability of this absorbed film to withstand the local contact pressure between the abrasive and the metal part.

This film shears readily with low frictional resistance during the polishing process.

Reduction in friction translates into lower heat generation at the point of contact between the abrasive and the part.

This reduction of heats prevents the breakdown of the resin bonding the abrasive to the belt.

Also much less force is required to polish the part.

Abrasive belts which have developed a metal coating will continue to cut as long as Cool-It is applied.

In fact, belts that have stopped cutting because they have become loaded with metal will cut normally after Cool-It has been applied.

Cool-It is non corrosive to the metal parts that are polished.

Cool-It has tarnish inhibiting properties for brass applications.

Cool-It does not interfere with subsequent polishing, plating, coating and anodising.

The method of application is very important to the success of Cool It.

Extremely small quantities of Cool-It are required.

It is counter productive to saturate the belt.

Cool-It should be applied with a single spray every 15 to 20 minutes only.

For most operations a simple spray bottle is sufficient.

For automatic operations a low pressure spray gun is available, activated by a foot switch or by a solenoid valve.

For robotic installations Cool-It can be applied via a robot controller.

Robot installations benefit more than any other because belt life can be extended up to four times longer.
