An innovative six-cutting corner system of a thread turning insert promises revolutionary gains in productivity as well as halving tooling costs, said the MACH 2008 exhibitor.

As part of its comprehensive display of Vargus threading tooling, Vargus Tooling's MACH 2008 stand will focus on a range of products being shown at a UK exhibition for the first time Vargus said that they offer an unrivalled route to the cost-effective production of high quality milled and turned threads

The Vargus V6 thread turning insert promises revolutionary gains in productivity as well as halving tooling costs, owing to an innovative six-cutting corner system - double that of conventional systems, said Vargus - that can all be applied to the same application.

Vargus told manufacturingtalk.com that the V6 inserts, when compared with alternatives.

offer a 25% cost reduction per edge.

V6 inserts can be supplied in a wide variety of external/internal styles for partial 60 deg and 50 deg thread forms and the machining of threads at a multitude of pitches.

Vargus Tooling UK will also show at MACH 2008 the following.

* Helicool HTC solid carbide Thriller for all-in-one drilling, chamfering and threadmilling - to reduce machining times and tooling costs.

* MilliPro HD thread milling tool for producing threads as small as 2mm (M2 x 0.4 - No 2-56 UN) in hard materials up to 62 HRc - applications where conventional tooling typically breaks.

* TMSD multi-flute thread mill for producing deep hole threads at highly-productive, economical rates.

* A new generation of Shaviv Mango II hand-deburring tool handles.

* The MiTM 40 shell mill - designed to reduce cycle times when generating large threads by using long inserts in a multiple flute holder.

Utilising up to eight inserts, MiTM allows significant increases in feed rates and a reduction in the number of machining passes.

* Helical - redesigned for improved chip flow and performance, available in a large range of thread standards and targeted to provide great value and performance for general purpose threading.

The new products complement a comprehensive range of world-class turning, milling and grooving solutions available from Vargus Tooling.

* Vargus Tooling at MACH 2008, NEC, Birmingham, UK, April 21-25, Hall 4, Stand 4348.
