Keep a check on water vapour problems

A Versaperm product story

Water vapour is extraordinarily invasive and the wastage it causes cost UK businesses hundreds of millions of pounds each year so use of a digital water meter provides data in 30 min.

Water vapour is extraordinarily invasive and the wastage it causes cost UK businesses hundreds of millions of pounds each year.

Electronics deteriorating, components rusting, products rotting, and pharmaceuticals failing – can all be caused because the O-rings, seals and enclosures that keep water out, dont keep our water vapour.

Many seals are virtually useless when it comes to water vapour – which can pass through them virtually unhindered to cause havoc within.

Water vapour is omnipresent and insidious.

It causes biodegradation, chemical reactions, physical change and short circuits.

It often reacts in a counter-intuitive way by comparison to liquid water.

Versaperm, a world leader in water vapour permeability measurement, has introduced a quick and simple way to test this all-important water vapour permeability and transmission rates for most types of enclosure, seals, packaging, films, coating or container.

The Versaperm WVTR (Water Vapour Transmission) meter can cope with several samples at a time - often give a reading in as little as 30 minutes – whereas the conventional gravimetric measurement technique takes several days and is significantly less accurate.

The meter is easy to use and gives a series of digital readouts that can be recorded or simply read off the LCD screen.

It needs no re-calibration and requires, at most, minimal training to give results that are accurate to better than one part per million (with some samples accurate to a few parts per hundred million).

Sensitivities are in the range 0.05 – 3200g/m2/day.

The Versaperm system can not only supply the equipment but also offers a testing service for a huge range of products and packages – from O-rings to sealants and even from missiles to pizzas.
