Stereo viewer is geared for production

A Vision Engineering product story
Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Apr 20, 2005

Stereo viewer bridges the gap between the microscope and the bench magnifier, meeting with demands for greater flexibility, higher standards of illumination and increased productivity.

Vision Engineering have launched the new Mantis.

Patented eyepieceless technology allows operators to work for longer periods without loss of productivity due to eyestrain or fatigue.

The patented Mantis stereo viewer bridges the gap between the microscope and the bench magnifier, meeting with industry's increasing demands for greater flexibility, higher standards of illumination and increased productivity, have given a platform for the new Mantis to provide these requirements.

In place of the conventional eyepieces of a microscope, there is instead a single viewing lens that presents a large image to both eyes.

This means that the operator's eyes are not restricted since the exit pupil is significantly larger.

On a traditional microscope the exit pupil is measured at about 3mm whereas on the new Mantis it is as much as 24mm.

Thus the pupils do not continuously adjust leading to a reduction in eyestrain.

Although the technology offers greater ergonomic benefits with the eyepieceless optics, image resolution and contrast are still optimised, unlike a video based system where the image is electronically reassembled.

Mantis offers the best of both worlds with a pure optical view whilst maintaining all the quality that you expect from more expensive microscope.

This technology brings other advantages into the equation that a production operator can benefit from.

The large field of view allows subjects to be easily seen with superb clarity and colour rendition.

Large working distances provide the operator with excellent hand-to-eye coordination and easier handling when inspecting or working on the component part.

New Mantis has optional extras that are available to make specific inspection applications easier such as a floating stage option for more intricate applications.

Up to the minute technology and continuous development have enabled Vision to bring this unique stereo inspection system onto the market.

Benefiting the operator with an easy to use system, at such a competitive price, Vision are confident they will meet with expectations.
