New VX CAD/CAM Dome Function Speeds Productivity for Product and Packaging Designers

VX Corporation, the pioneering developer of advanced, integrated CAD/CAM solutions for engineers and industrial designers, has announced the introduction of the "Dome" function in VX Version 10 for innovative product and packaging design The new "Dome" function, which provides double-curvature end caps, complements other new tools in VX V10 for conceptual, product and package designers such as the Morphing deformation toolkit

The Dome tool is simple to use and provides a very efficient technique to produce a double-curvature face over the end of virtually any shape.

The Dome command can produce a concave or convex shape, picking up a 2D profile (perhaps wire frame or Sketch entities) or a 3D profile ("open" face edges or 3D curves).

The user controls the height and blending of the Dome via straightforward options.

The user can also influence the tangency and curvature continuity of the Dome face in relation to existing faces.

"This is complex functionality delivered with supreme ease of use in typical VX style," said Bob Fischer, VX vice president, sales and marketing.

"The tool is fast and intuitive, in many cases replacing the need to construct a more complicated feature".

"Plus, users can parametrically adjust Dome faces at any time".
