Mold manufacturing made easier

A VX product story

Powerful, time-saving mold design automation tools and machining strategies optimised for high-quality molds will be exhibited by VX Corporation at this year's moldmaking expo in Illinois.

VX Corporation, specialising in CAD/CAM for plastic products and molds, will be demonstrating one of the industries must comprehensive mold-making solutions at MoldMaking Expo in Rosemont, Illinois April 18 and 19.

The mantra for this year's MoldMaking Expo - "Provide the moldmaking industry with the tools needed to move forward and improve in 2007!" - will be aptly fulfilled at the VX booth, booth #914, with demonstrations of powerful, time-saving mold design automation tools and machining strategies optimised for high-quality molds.

In addition to demonstrating tools for generating parting lines on complex surfaces, for automatically healing "dirty" geometry, for fixing undercuts, and for analysing and fixing draft angles, VX's mold automation design tools will be demonstrated.

VX mold automation design combines VX's advanced modeling with Lib3D, a library of smart components for creating intelligent mold assemblies with parametric cooling channels, sliders and ejectors, all of which are accessed through an intuitive interface fashioned specifically for the mold design process.

With Lib3D smart components, users can select components for mold assemblies such as fasteners to a series of plates, and VX automatically calculates the required length, clearances and manufacturing methods.

For machining molds, VX's QuickMill will be demonstrated.

QuickMill, available for both roughing and advanced finishing operations, provides optimum tool loading, extremely efficient material removal, and high quality finished molds to reduce machine wear and tear, improve machine tool utilisation and reduce polishing time.

QuickMill's tool paths provide extraordinarily smooth transitions between surfaces.

"MoldMaking Expo offers us a unique venue to communicate directly with mold-makers the benefits that VX mold design automation and QuickMill machining brings to their operations," said Bob Fischer, VX VP of Sales and Marketing.

"Once they see a demonstration, they immediately see how VX CAD/CAM can benefit their bottom-line with increased productivity and higher quality molds".
