Water Jet Sweden reports its sales of water jet cutting machines grew by more than 50% during 2005 and will now double its manufacturing capacity - opening a second plant in August 2006.

Sales of Water Jet Sweden machines saw record growth of more than 50% in 2005 over 2004, with a 20% increase in personnel To keep pace with demand, the Swedish manufacturer is to double its output capacity with the start-up in August 2006 of a second plant and a new show room alongside the existing facility on the Ronneby site in southern Sweden

Production of the new plant will even exceed that of the existing plant as a result of the introduction of new, more advanced manufacturing technology.

Not least helping to realize this growth rate has been the establishment of two new subsidiary companies in Europe; WJS UK in 2003 and Water Jet Polska in Poland in 2005.

Market penetration in the UK has been nothing short of spectacular, the new subsidiary having had to relocate already from its first facility in Boston Spa to newly-built, more spacious premises in Wetherby, North Yorkshire.

In the meantime, the longer-established German subsidiary, Wasserstrahl-Schneidetechnik in Neustadt, Germany and continues to grow its share of the other Central European markets.

* Worldwide sales - beyond Europe, orders have accounted for new, important, big installations in Russia and China, as well as deliveries to Thailand and the Ukraine.

Says globe-trotting managing director, Lennart Svensson: "WJS has been able to capitalize on the march water jet cutting has stolen over other traditional cutting technologies, thanks to our early investment in research and development which has established us at the forefront in our sector by virtue of our being able to deliver unequalled accuracy, state-of-the-art automation and dedication to customizing systems to specific requirements.

This has been our philosophy from the start only twelve years ago and will continue with ever-increasing investment in R and D as a significant percentage of sales.".
