A Walter Helitronic Power Regrinder has been ordered by The Woods Group, Bolton, "to increase and enhance the company's capacity for cutting tool regrinding and manufacture".

A Walter Helitronic Power Regrinder has been ordered by The Woods Group, Bolton, "to increase and enhance the company's capacity for cutting tool regrinding and manufacture" According to group sales manager Richard Hopwood, the five-axis CNC machine - which accommodates rotating tools 400 mm long and 320 mm diameter, or 390 mm for face grinding - will complement a comprehensive range of machine tools used by group companies R Denton Saw Doctors and Reldon Precision Tooling

Coupled with a highly skilled workforce and excellent service capability, the Helitronic tool regrinder will help the group maintain its worldwide reputation for cutting tool manufacture, and regrind and refurbishment.

Says Richard Hopwood: "Our rising order book across both the woodworking and metalcutting industry sectors have prompted this investment, primarily to increase our regrinding capacity but also to boost our new tooling manufacturing capability." Supplied by Walter GB of Redditch, the Helitronic Power Regrinder was selected against competitor machines due to its ability - and flexibility - to accommodate these varying demands.

The machine has X, Y and Z axes travels of 500 mm by 320 mm by 660 mm, and features a 11.5 kW spindle drive that produces 19 Nm of constant torque and 0 to 9,500 revs/min.

Digital drives ensure rapid traverse rates of 15 m/min in all linear axes and 120o/sec on rotational axes.

It also boasts the user-friendly WWM Walter Window Mode control system which is a powerful (Pentium PC processor) but easy-to-follow system with operator guidance via clear graphics on a 15 inch colour screen.
