Facing insert design mills difficult
materials
Featuring a strong bevel edge, the edge design of a face milling insert boasts high stability and is overcomes reduced tool life problems caused by edge chipping on difficult workpiece materials.
Walter GB of Redditch has expanded its Xtra.tec face milling cutter range with the addition of the new F27 cutting edge insert geometry for its F4033 cutter for machining both cast iron and steels Featuring a strong bevel edge, the new edge design boasts high stability and is therefore able to overcome reduced tool life problems traditionally caused by edge chipping on difficult workpiece materials - such as cast iron with inclusions and hard steels
The inserts feature the WKP25 and WKP35 cutting materials, both of which are characterised by reduced formation of comb cracks, and are therefore ideally suited to wet machining.
Walter GB can supply an inexpensive circumference-sintered version for general roughing applications and a circumference-ground style for high precision tasks.
