Double column VMC's CNC simplifies
programming

The CNC on a double column vertical machining centre has user-friendly advanced functionality programming routines to simplify and speed up programming times.

TW Ward CNC Machinery said that the Hartford Blockbuster Pro-2150 vertical machining centre (VMC) toi be shown at the UK's MACH 2008 machine tool exhibition has X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 2060mm by 1560mm by 780mm Table size is 2100mm by 1450mm and distance between the columns is 1680mm

The VMC also has a two-speed geared headstock that provides 6,000 rev/min and 26kW spindle motor power.

The Blockbuster Pro-2150 has a 40-station arm-type automatic tool changer (ATC), geared head and Hartrol-Fanuc AI300 (18iMB) CNC system.

* User-friendly, simplified programming - the CNC has a user-friendly Hartrol advanced functionality programming routines that are available as standard.

These include easy-to-use cycles, which are designed to simplify and speed up programming times and therefore reduce downtime, said Wad to manufacturingtalk.

There are other useful setting and maintenance functions for ease of operator use.

For example, the routines cover the following.

* Workpiece datum setting using edge setter.

* Manual tool setting using calibrated setting block.

* Tool magazine tracking (for arm-type ATC).

* Tool logging and spindle load monitor.

* Full M Code listings and a comprehensive set of special canned cycles.

As standard, the machine has a 25 bar through-spindle coolant system, spindle oil cooler, Renishaw OMP60 probe and fourth-axis interface.
