Edited by the Manufacturingtalk editorial team Jan 25, 2008

A new low cost manual hand screwdriver with automatic feeding offers an accessible method of achieving increased production levels in a wide range of industrial applications.

Weber Automatic Assembly Systems has launched its LCM4 low cost manual hand screwdriver with automatic feeding.

It is designed to offer an accessible method of achieving increased production levels in a wide range of industrial applications.

The LCM4 incorporates a number of proven Weber features to provide a fast, reliable and precise method of inserting screws.

The LCM4 manual hand screwdriver has been pre-configured for use with most common screw sizes, minimising design and manufacturing costs to enable the product to be offered at an extremely competitive price.

The LCM4 features the following.

* Plug and play functionality - users simply position the screwdriving gun and press the trigger bar.

The screwdriver bit then advances automatically without rotation for ease of positioning and interlocks with the head of the screw, engaging the locking clutch and starting the screwdriver turning.

The device tightens the screw to the set torque and, as the trigger bar is released, the screwdriver retracts and a new screw is automatically loaded.

* PLC operated - the entire fastening process is PLC controlled making the screwdriver easy to operate with no specialist training, said Weber to manufacturingtalk.com.

As the LCM4 features automatic bit advance, the need for manual compression of the nose piece is eliminated, simplifying operation further.

The specially designed swivel arm ensures consistently reliable feed, even with short screws, while the connection feed tube is gap free and infinitely adjustable for flexible operation.

Additionally, the conveyor bowl and escapement lid are fully enclosed to minimise noise and ensure user safety.

The new screwdriver is fully supported by Weber's leading technical and application support, helping users to achieve the most from the technology.

The LCM4 is part of an extensive range of manual, semi-automatic and fully automatic automation solutions and is available with just a one week lead time.
