Metals stockholder gets new racking layout
Understanding exactly what a metals stockholder requires as regards storage racking and easy accessibility is why a storage systems supplier was asked to design a racking layout.
This existing storage equipment needed reconfiguring and extra storage added to it to cope with additional aluminium extrusions and cold roll formed stainless steel.
Company director Shaun Heard contacted Wickens Engineering to facilitate with the move and to provide further equipment.
Wickens cantilever racking is designed for the safe and organised storage of long and heavy loads and they proposed a cantilever system on which to store the aluminium extrusions.
It was important that as part of the project the existing equipment was reconfigured to fit with the additional racking.
As a Combilift truck was to be used to access the racking Wickens proposed installing a guide rail system to protect the racking from the truck.
Further protection of the equipment was ensured through the installation of a Wickens barrier system.
Wickens not only manufactured and installed the required equipment but also relocated the existing racking to their new site.
Wickens worked with the installers to fit the timescale of MCM, which involved working around the building work and relocation.
The job required several site visits from the design stage to the installation of the guide rail and barriers.
The job went smoothly, with Shaun Heard stating that 'the service from my initial meeting with Alan [Wickens sales director] to installation was superb'.
Wickens cantilever racking system delivered a reliable and cost effective storage solution for the heavy application.
