Structures for China galvanised in the
UK
Steel framework components to fabricate a capacitor bank structure for a Chinese steel rolling mill have been galvanised by a UK subcontractor for shipment to China.

Mark Smith, managing director of Systems Power, explained that the capacitors would be installed to stabilize the voltage in the mill's electrical power system: "The frames have now been despatched to our customer, which is an electrical equipment manufacturer in America, and from there they will be sent onward to China." Mark Waters of Merseyside Galvanizing, said that the contract represented a major order for the company, with each of the steel units weighing between 200kg and 300kg.
"We were delighted to gain this contract from Systems Power, which is a new customer for us, and especially for such an important application on the other side of the world.
"All the steel frames were galvanized to BS 1461 standard, which is equivalent to 100 microns thickness, and we are confident that the galvanizing will provide excellent protection for the structures for many years to come." Its fully-enclosed galvanizing bath, measuring 6.4m x 1.22m x 2.8m, and other processes all meet the latest European and UK environment protection requirements.
