Worksop Galvanizing in Nottinghamshire - the largest galvanizing facility in the UK-wide Wedge Group and one of the largest in Europe - has proved its commitment to giving its customers what it calls a "Rolls-Royce service" by galvanizing four turning vane assemblies to be used by the world-famous aero-engine manufacturer The Worksop company, based at Claylands Avenue, carried out the work on behalf of its direct customer, aero-engine test-cell and noise control specialists Cullum Detuners, of Heanor, Derbyshire, which designed and constructed the turning vane assemblies on behalf of Rolls-Royce

Galvanising relationship ensures durable products
A family-run company established over 150 years which has been supplying equipment to fishing vessels for over 100 years, has developed a successful working partnership with a galvanizing company.
The units are being installed at an advanced new engine test-bed facility by the Derby-based multi-national company.
In total, 16 sectional steel items for the frames of the four assemblies and 96 individual vanes (each weighing 0.5 tonnes) were galvanized, adding up to 62 tonnes of steel.
When re-fabricated and installed on-site each of the assemblies will be approximately 20 metres long.
Cherry Salvesen of Cullum Detuners said the air intakes for the four engine testing units would be permanently exposed to the elements for many years and that the galvanizing was therefore essential to protect them from corrosion.
Paul Robinson, Commercial Manager of Worksop Galvanizing , said: "We were delighted to secure this contract from our customers Cullum Detuners , who are an international leader in their field, and also to be involved in a project for a world-famous brand like Rolls-Royce.
"Worksop Galvanizing is one of the few galvanizing plants with the capability to undertake a job on this scale.
Before completing the galvanizing, Cullum Detuners asked us to advise them on the location of drainage holes for the sectional steel, and we were very pleased to be able to help them in this way." Worksop Galvanizing 's fully-enclosed galvanizing bath, which meets all the latest European and UK environment-protection standards, measures 21m x 1.5m x 2.78m and can hold 600 tonnes of molten zinc.
