Wenzel acquires Knotenpunkt and Volumetrik
Wenzel can now offer software covering all functions from digitising to CAD following its acquisition of the Knotenpunkt and Volumetrik companies.
Wenzel has taken over Knotenpunkt and Volumetrik.
Knotenpunkt specialises in digitising, the processing of point clouds and reverse engineering.
Volumetrik majors in computer tomography machines to make contactless 3D measurements of inner and outer structures in a range of materials in many diverse applications.
* Knotenpunkt - in the takeover, Wenzel now has all rights to Knotenpunkt's 'PointMaster' software package for reverse engineering and measurement.
Wenzel said its products now cover all software from digitising to CAD.
By integrating PointMaster into its design software, Wenzel's DesCAD has all the functions - from model digitising to milling.
Wenzel also now has its own 3D line scanner technology (Shapetracer) for digitising surfaces and contours of parts using Wenzel coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
Consequently, all strategically relevant components of a complete software suite are in posession of the Wenzel Group.
Managing director of Knotenpunkt, Ralf Jaumann, said that such a range of software is 'unique in the metrology industry'.
Managing director of the Wenzel Group, Frank Wenzel, said: "By the strategic acquisition of this reverse engineering technology provider Knotenpunkt, Wenzel extends its leading position as a provider of design systems for the recording and processing of surfaces".
* Volumetrik - about this takeover, Wenzel said it expands the company's product portfolio through acquiring one of the strongest-growing fields in metrology.
Using computer tomography machines it?s possible to make contactless 3D measurements of inner and outer structures in a range of materials in many diverse applications.
?By integrating our many years of experience and competence in the field of computer tomography into the Wenzel Group we have the best opportunity to compete in the market for 'contactless volume measurement' with our innovative technology," said Dr Martin Simon, managing director of Volumetrik.
Knotenpunkt is located in Balingen, Germany, and currently employs 10 employees.
* About Wenzel Group - Wenzel Group and Co KG is one of the leading manufacturers of coordinate measuring machines.
At its plants in Wiesthal, Germany, the company produces high-precision measuring equipment for customers throughout the world.
The main customers are in the automotive and aerospace industries, mechanical engineering, electrical motor manufacturing and sub-contractors to these sectors.
