Automated cells upgrade automotive moulder

Automold UK recently ordered several automation cells, worth GBP1.2m from Wittmann UK to produce automotive mouldings in factories in Germany and the UK.

Automold UK recently ordered several automation cells, worth GBP1.2m from Wittmann UK to produce automotive mouldings in factories in Germany and the UK.

The Stroud, Glos - based Tier One automotive SME and moulder will be using three of the automation cells in the UK and four in Germany to produce a variety of parts for the new Jaguar and Ford Fiesta cars.

Components include front-end modules, partition walls, cowlings and other mouldings.

Wittmann UK has been testing and trialling the Automold technology for a year.

The 670, 660 and 650 Wittmann robots are at the heart of the automation processes.

The Wittmann/Automold package includes vision systems, hand-over stations, degating systems, cooling conveyors and other peripherals.

Automold's Managing Director, Mark Langshaw says: "We are delighted to be working with Wittmann UK and consolidating our Tier One supply position to the automotive industry.

Automation of these moulding processes will not only improve quality and throughput for our customers, but also achieve the necessary cost-down currently demanded by the sector.
