Linear robots unload large mouldings
For larger injection moulding machines, linear robots are now availablewith suitable payloads up to 75kg and have a vertical stroke up to 2800mm for handling large mouldings.
The payload and injection moulding machine size range for the new 7-Series of Wittmann linear robots has been increased with the introduction of the Model W753 Compact S3 to include large tonnage injection moulding machines up to 20MN (2000 tonf) clamping force The new 7 series robot incorporates a lower cost linear robot design introduced by Wittmann at the Kunststoffe (K) exhibition in Dusseldorf in the autumn of 2004

The W753 offers a payload of up to 75kg (165 lb) and a vertical stroke of 2800mm (110in) for a wide variety of applications requiring higher payloads such as large automotive and appliance components or insert moulding using heavy end-of-arm-tooling (EOAT).
Like the other 7-Series models from Wittmann, the W753 robot offers numerous outstanding features including the use of state-of-the-art compact servo modules integrated on the robot itself, eliminating the need for an external control cabinet.
The integrated control cabinet is mounted behind the horizontal axis for space savings and allows electrical connection of external I/O-modules via a bus cable for the direct control of all attached peripheral equipment.

The 7-series robots are equipped with three servo drives as standard for the fast, coordinated motion of all numerical axes.
As an option, up to three additional rotational axes can be added for 6-axis articulated motion.
In order to minimise part removal time when the mould is open, special attention has been given to maximising the speed of the vertical axis.
It was designed for highly dynamic operation and consists of a specialized thin-wall, internally rib-reinforced tube construction to combine excellent stiffness and light weight construction.
The design offers the fast, delay-free motion for part removal and guarantees the highest productivity for the injection moulding machine.
Model W753 robots are equipped as standard with the flexible and freely programmable CNC6.2 control system that can be upgraded to R7-TouchScreen control for maximum programming flexibility.
The choice of control systems is already well known for the 6-Series robot line and offers unlimited user programming flexibility.
Because of consistent use of the same control platform across all Wittmann robot lines no additional training requirements are necessary and pre-existing programs can be used as templates for new sequences.
In order to offer the W753 robot line at an attractive price - including numerous standard features - the units are manufactured in serial production and offer, compared to the 6-series robots, a reduced set of options.
However, available options include additional rotary axes, vacuum and gripper circuits, input and output modules, and a conveyor indexing option.
The W753 Compact robot is priced at over 15% less than a comparable W653 robot.
