Various energy supplies and services such as acetylene, oxygen, CO2, argon, shielding gas as well as compressed and fresh air, vacuum and electric power, can now be supplied from one unit.

Witt Gas Techniques the Warrington, Cheshire based gas safety, control, mixing and analysis equipment supplier has designed a Modular Energy Compact System (MECS) to provide various energy supplies and services such as Acetylene, Oxygen, CO2, Argon, shielding gas as well as compressed and fresh air, vacuum and electric power from one central source close to the point of use MECS is ideal for applications such as shipyards, rail carriage works, the automotive industry, pipe and tube works as well as general fabrication or where the multiple use of services is needed

MECS is made up of modular units based on a 19in rack system, integrated into a steel frame for either stationary or mobile applications.

The system can provide services using a telescopic crane or swan neck jib right to the nearest point of working, which can be at the top or bottom or from one side to the other of the work piece Built to suit each individual application, these systems provide added safety and better organisation on the shop floor with reduced set up times and risk of damage to cables and hoses, by supplying services to a given point as near as possible to the work place.

With MECS, there are fewer cables and cable entanglements on the shop floor for a safer environment.

Savings in the use of shielding gas can be achieved through the system1s integrated metering valve.

The required gas flow is set up close to the point of use and will remain stable during the working time without the need to re-set or checking.

Where pipelines are installed underground, MECS provides the control point where the mixing and control of the gases is carried out safely using the integrated mixer and analysing system within the unit.

The modular units makes repair and servicing easy, by just exchanging units the system reduces downtime to an absolute minimum.

As the balance off work changes, the modules can be replaced so that for instance, gas cutting points reduce and MIG welding points increase.

There is no limit to the possibilities of use - oxygen and fuel gas, shielding gas supplies, compressed air, breathing air, single phase or 3 phase power, water supply, fume extraction and gas mixers.
