Targeted at the cabinet making and timber industries, a range of anti-static devices remove dust and debris prior to finishing and so avoid producing poor finishes.

Specialist Simco distributor, WLT is targeting the cabinet making and timber industries with a range of anti-static devices The equipment is designed to remove dust and debris prior to finishing and follows on from success in other related industries

Traditionally, static build-up on wood has resulted in the attraction of minute particles of dust and sawdust, which has clung to the surface of sheets of plywood and timber prior to varnishing.

However, now with specialist Simco equipment designed to eliminate it, poor surface finish should become a thing of the past.

Typical of the product range is the new Cobra static ionizing gun, which has been developed for neutralizing static over almost any wooden surface.

The gun has a range of up to 2000mm and is especially good for also removing small particles from wooden and plastic mouldings.

Supplied with six metres of cable, the gun has a host of advanced features including a built-in point cleaning system for easy maintenance and a facility to allow two guns to operate from just one power source.

For very large flat panels such as doors and big boards, moving along a conveyor belt, WLT offers a P-SH-N-Ex anti static long bar.

It is capable of operating at a distance of up to 600mm from the target surface area, making it the ideal choice where a high output is required in a restricted area.

For motionless wooden surfaces WLT recommends the Sentry ionising air blower, which blows air over a series of anti-static bars to neutralise build-up.

Typical of the problems often encountered when handling cutting and drilling wood is shop floor dust, which if not eliminated can lead to lost production.

The Sentry solves these problems through the use of an internal built in fan, which is designed to remove the static, making it ideal for high production areas.

The unit can be simply connected to a power supply, thereby allowing it to be situated in even the remotest of locations.

For the most demanding applications WLT offers a variant of the new Simco type DD web cleaner.

More compact than the earlier model it has its own integrated power supply.

Building on the success of an earlier model, the latest DD has also been fitted with a new vacuum and sawdust collection system, allowing it to perform even better.

Relatively inexpensive, it is designed for installing in very tight locations, making it ideal for the busy joinery shop.

For those with non-standard applications, WLT offers an OEM service, allowing equipment to be specifically built to the customer's own specific requirements.

Finally, WLT offers a free static auditing service for the wood working industry, which allows customers to receive an independent analysis of the problem and practical solutions for its elimination.

Commenting, WLT director Mike Essler says: "We are targeting the wood industry because of the benefits in product presentation we can provide.

By removing the build up of static, debris and dust is no longer held on the surface and customers will get significantly improved presentation.".
