Precision boring tools perform roughing,
finishing
Precision modular boring tools provide users with roughing and finish boring capability through an extensive range of modular couplings and extensions.
The introduction of the swissTools ST system of precision modular boring tools to the portfolio of tooling specialist WNT (UK) provides customers with the best of both worlds - Swiss precision engineering and the service and support package of WNT, both arguably second to none The ST system provides users with roughing and finish boring capability through an extensive range of modular couplings and extensions

Cutters make light work of hard materials
Tool life when cutting hard materials up to 70 HRc is greatly improved, thanks to the development of a PVD-multilayer coating used on solid carbide milling cutters.
Cutters offer stable high feed per tooth usage
Among several advantages offered by indexable insert and solid carbide milling cutters is an insert seat that provides support and excellent stability in high feed per tooth applications.
Available in single- or twin-cutting edge styles, depending on diameter, the user needs only four boring heads in order to machine bores from 3mm to 302mm.
The many features of the ST system include a positive location provided by the large contact faces, which in turn provide high stability; optimum anti-vibration characteristics and transfer of cutting forces into the main body of the tool.
For high-speed applications balancing rings can reduce the basic unbalance per unit by up to 95 per cent without resorting to stand-alone balancing machines.
Cutting edge orientation is guaranteed and costs are reduced, thanks to the use of standard ISO inserts when machining bores between 5.8mm and 655mm diameter.
Helping to reduce tooling costs further, the ST range is 100 per cent compatible with the existing WNT programme of tooling.
Pre-setting and adjustment of the ST boring bars is both simple and precise.
In the case of rough boring bars a setting key is used to achieve setting accuracy of 0.1mm on diameter, and in the case of twin-edge tools both edges are synchronised without the need for external pre-setting equipment.
Additionally, in twin-edge rough boring applications the cutting edges can be set asynchronous in order to divide the cut between the two inserts.
Finish boring tools utilise a ground scale screw system where one division represents a movement of 0.01mm on diameter.
As with all products in the WNT portfolio the swissTool ST system of precision boring heads is available for guaranteed next day delivery if ordered before 6:30 pm. Request a free brochure from WNT (UK) ...
