Cutters make light work of hard materials
Tool life when cutting hard materials up to 70 HRc is greatly improved, thanks to the development of a PVD-multilayer coating used on solid carbide milling cutters.
Total Tooling Online has combined WNT's conventional purchasing system with state-of-the-art software and web technology to deliver an online catalogue and ordering system that is setting the new standard for manufacturing supply.
With over 40 000 products on the website, selecting the right one for a particular application could have been daunting but, with using drop-down menus within a few mouse clicks, users can locate the ideal tool for a specific application.
To further simplify this selection process, tools can also be searched for by specific applications such as drilling, tapping, endmilling, turning, etc.

Big choice offered for cutting small grooves

Tooling catalogue grows to over 5000 products
The latest release of the WNT catalogue has been expanded to over 1200 pages, has 18 sections and over 5000 tooling products including fine-boring, reaming, threading, milling and toolholding.
Not only that, but for the comfort of a visual check a photograph and technical drawing of each tool is presented to the user at the same time as detailed cutting data.
To further fine-tune their selection criteria, users can specify particulars such as material to be cut, tool coating preference, tool diameter, etc.
WNT is rightly proud of its logistics operation and its ability to guarantee next day, before noon, delivery of virtually any item in its catalogue.
It has confirmed its confidence in this system by integrating a 'traffic light' system on the website, which indicates the live stock position of any item.
"We have invested heavily in our logistics and we feel that it is a major advantage to our customers to be able to see actual stock positions prior to placing an order," says WNT UK Managing Director Tony Pennington.
"With this in place they can be confident that any order placed will be delivered, as the system immediately allocates that particular item to that particular customer with no possibility of the item being allocated to another customer." Total Tooling Online is more than just a shopping portal though.
Once registered, customers can access a wide range of services relating to their individual accounts.
Order history can be viewed, along with invoice and payment details, discounts and any special deals that are also available.
As with most consumer websites users can create shopping lists, which can be used as 'standing orders' where tool usage is constant.
Alternatively, wish lists can be created that are invaluable to sub-contractors trying to cost jobs for quotation.
All of this information is secure and accessed by password protection, allowing individuals access only to the information they need or are allowed to see.
Therefore, while the catalogue element of the site can be viewed freely by anybody with computer access, ordering and account monitoring can only be done by those users authorised to do so, with these restrictions being variable.
In situations where a company provides multiple access to the system, individual orders for that company are consolidated by WNT.
This results in a single delivery the following morning.
For added peace of mind it can be specified that multiple orders are not processed until authorised by a senior member of staff at the customer.
"Total Tooling Online takes web-based tool ordering to a new level.
We have worked hard to ensure that the functionality matches the expectations of our customer base.
To that end I feel that we have developed a system that exceeds anything that is currently available in industry and is comparable with the best consumer websites," confirms Pennington. Request a free brochure from WNT (UK) ...
