Variable pitch milling cutters cut
steels faster
Milling cutters' variable pitch geometry and tough sub-micron grain carbide coating of HV hardness 3600 allow cutting speeds of up to 250m/min and feedrates up to 0.55mm/tooth when cutting steel.
As the latest addition to its Plus range of tooling, the solid carbide HPC milling cutters from WNT (UK) display a number of features that benefit end-users with increased metal removal rates and, therefore, enhanced productivity Thanks to the variable pitch geometry that reduces natural harmonics, the use of extremely tough sub-micron grain carbide and the development by WNT of the silver coloured, chromium-based Ti 1010 coating with an HV hardness of 3600, cutting speeds of up to 250m/min and feedrates up to 0.55mm/tooth are achievable when cutting steel

Cutters make light work of hard materials
Tool life when cutting hard materials up to 70 HRc is greatly improved, thanks to the development of a PVD-multilayer coating used on solid carbide milling cutters.
In addition to the increased cutting speeds the HPC range also benefits from extended tool life due to the reduced harmonics and the flute design that allows high swarf removal rates even at large depths of cut and elevated spindle speeds.
From an operators perspective the design also leads to an extremely quiet machining cycle.
The range currently encompasses seven styles of cutters including a tool for roughing and finishing grooves from solid material, peripheral milling, pocketing, ramping and helical milling in steels and cast irons; A rough milling cutter for universal application but, with particular suitability for machining titanium and similar materials; Radius copy milling cutters; and a range of finishing cutters that feature an eccentric ground relief that provides extraordinary stability and quiet operation.
