Work in clean air without a clean room
A low cost solution to the problem of providing clean manufacturing zones, without building a 'clean room' is to use a bench with its own local clean air environment.
A new, low cost solution to the problem of providing clean manufacturing zones has arrived on the market in the form of the AirScreen Desk from WorkPoint As manufacturing in the UK becomes more technically complex and sophisticated, so the need for comparable sophistication in the assembly environment also increases, but often just for one stage of the process, perhaps final assembly or packing

TIG welding station extracts fumes, debris
A self-contained TIG welding station gives the operator a comfortable working seat and removes fumes and debris down through the bench surface and filter costs are low.
Business assembling, testing or servicing any high precision or high hygiene equipment; meteorology, cameras, inspection, PCB based systems, semi pharmaceutical operations such as medicine bottles and caps, optical kit, would all benefit from clean air assembly stations with a dramatic improvement in product cleanliness and quality at low cost.
Drawing extensively from the makers market leading experience with down draught extraction technology the unit constitutes a self contained guaranteed air quality laminar upflow bench needing no enclosures, no rooms nor special services.
It simply plugs in to a 13A supply after unpacking.

True sit down working down draught bench launched
A new unit provides all the benefits of standard down draught benches but with the addition of full knee space features so it can truly be termed a desk, offering true sit down working.
The result of extensive customer research; interviews and prototyping, AirScreen Desk is designed to provide selectable air quality up to laboratory grade air within industrial surroundings at low cost, making it viable for industrial applications.
Moreover it is re-locatable, semi modular and provides full sit down knee space working for comfort, productivity and precision.
It's footprint is just 1270mm x 960mm with a work height of 840 mm.
Airscreen Desk works by providing a uniform flow of air at approximately 0.5m/sec through the specially designed surface, supplying effectively a clean, positive work surface.
Dust and other pollutants in the factory environment are entrained by the unique perimeter upflow feature while the central area is also positively supplied, preventing pollution ingress.
Filter arrangements vary from single stage systems to 2 stages with a pre filter protecting a HEPA H13 grade filter with positive clamp down seals.
Air quality can be achieved notionally up to Class 1,000 which is 99.95% efficient at 0.3 microns.
As a measure, 0.3 microns is approximately 30 times smaller than the largest particle seen by the human eye! WorkPoint have produced a guide to air quality which is designed to help users select the appropriate level of air filtration and thus product protection; whilst keeping the filter costs down to the minimum needed.
AirScreen Desk provides laboratory quality air at manufacturing industry investment levels, making clean air readily achieved in the normal working environment.
