Re-established company to sell EDMs and millers

A Warwick Machine Tools product story

UK machine tool distributor, Warwick Machine Tools, has been re-established near Kenilworth and is now the sole agent for ONA EDM and MTE CNC bed-type millers.

UK machine tool distributor, Warwick Machine Tools (WMT), has been re-established near Kenilworth and is now the sole agent for ONA electric discharge machining equipment as well as a new agency range of bed-type machining centres from MTE.

Both machine manufacturers are based in Northern Spain.

Originally established in 1970 and acquired by Yuasa Trading of Tokyo in 1992 to form Yuasa Warwick Machinery, WMT is a joint venture between Yuasa Trading and Gerard Berger, who was responsible for ONA sales at Yuasa for many years and becomes managing director of the new company.

Paul Barry, who has more than 18-years' EDM experience, continues as technical director.

All warranties on ONA equipment installed in the UK will be honoured by WMT.

Said Gerard Berger, "Technical sales, which is both in-house and through a network of distributors such as Eurospark, has been further strengthened by the appointment of two new regional sales engineers in England, Rob Winch in the South West and Barry Newell in the North.

The WMT philosophy is based on collaboration with the customer, identifying precisely what his problems and objectives are and offering solutions to suit to his particular needs.

"In re-establishing WMT as essentially a single-product supplier of ONA equipment, albeit we now also have a complementary range of prismatic metalcutting machines, it is my intention to give ONA customers the support they deserve but that was perhaps diluted when the products were sold through a multi-machine tool distributor." ONA is the leader in large-scale EDM machines and is the longest established manufacturer in the world, having provided toolmakers with a quality spark eroded finish since 1952.

It is also the largest producer in the European Union.

At MACH 2002, WMT unveiled a new range of high-end ONA die sinkers and fixed bed submersible wire cut machines as well as a range of entry-level wire cut machines based on the successful Prima range.
