Sensor systems simplify condition
monitoring

Users can take accurate vibration, heat and pressure readings from any rotating shaft machinery in the most demanding industrial environments, enabling failures to be predicted.

As part of their commitment to helping companies avoid costly breakdowns through preventative maintenance, Wyko Industrial Services now supply the full range of CE approved Monitran condition monitoring sensors and systems Monitran products allow users to take accurate vibration, heat and pressure readings from any rotating shaft machinery in the most demanding industrial environments, enabling failures to be predicted and costly downtime minimised

The Monitran range is probably the most comprehensive available, including vibration sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, portable vibration meters, monitoring systems with on-line capabilities and eddy current probes.

The flexibility of the range is enhanced by sensors that can be easily attached to cooling fins, bearing housings, motor casings and pump bodies with a screw stud or adhesive.

This ease of installation and system compatibility makes Monitran an ideal choice for end users and OEM's who demand reliable performance in unreliable environments.

Specially developed for industrial and machine vibration monitoring in water and process industries, Monitran's submersible piezoelectric accelerometers are sealed to IP68 as standard and can be used in a variety of applications requiring either part or full immersion in water, typically up to 100 metres in depth.

For use in hazardous environments there is a group of Intrinsically Safe accelerometers, which provide IP67 protection, BASEEFA and EEx ia IIC T6 certification for vibration monitoring applications in mining, offshore, petrochemical, or any other aggressive industrial environments.

To complete the range, there is a new series of super tough accelerometers that offer a radiation resistance of 1x1010 rad and the capability of operating in temperatures up to 250degC.

Typical applications include dryers, glove box and gearbox monitoring in power generating industries as well as general industrial use.

Wyko now supply the full range of Monitran stainless steel, screw-on, vibration sensors for use in any industrial rotating shaft machine monitoring systems from paper making to textile manufacturing and HVAC systems.

Included in the range are wireless units, which have a five-year battery life and an easy to read digital display, making them ideal for monitoring a wide range of hard to reach equipment such as pumps, fans, motors and turbines.

Sensors specially designed for machine monitoring are also supplied that can be used directly with industrial PC's/PLC's, therefore avoiding the need for interfaces.

Other sensors in the range include low profile units (30mm high) for hard to access locations, compact low mass variants, low frequency (down to 0Hz) and budget models.

For the engineer on the move, Wyko's Monitran range also includes VM series vibration meters that are lightweight, portable, battery-powered devices, designed for use with either a hand-held probe or Monitran's range of vibration sensors.

By measuring acceleration, velocity or displacement in three ranges and having the facility for filtering unwanted signals, the condition of machine bearings or components can be accurately assessed.

Other monitoring systems available come in the form of multi channel rack mounted units, which can measure vibration, temperature, speed, displacement or pressure.

Alarms can be set and results viewed on-line or via a digital display for easier set up and monitoring.

Irregularities in the speed and positioning of rotating shaft equipment can be easily detected using the new Monitran non-contact 4-20mA eddy current probes.

The units enable operators to feed sensor information directly into PLC, SCADA or bespoke proprietary control systems.

Other models available offer measurement ranges from 0 to 2mm and 0-20mm and can operate in temperatures from -30degC to +180degC.

The probes are Ideal for measuring distances on static and rotating machines in a wide range of applications, providing a valuable assessment of radial vibration, axial thrust, speed and tolerances of rotating machinery such as motor spindles .

To ensure that accelerometers and vibration sensors work effectively within any system, Wyko also offer a competitive range of Monitran ancillary equipment, which includes single channel monitors, junction boxes, interface units, switch boxes sealed to IP65, threaded magnets, mounting adhesive, Quick-Fit M8 mounting studs, Quick-Fit cables and connectors.

All sensors are approved to ISO9002, supplied with full calibration certificates and are available nationwide from 120 Wyko Branches. Request a free brochure from Eriks UK ...
